Did the book description relate to the story? Overall, yes. The author labels it as a "messy and mundane" memoir, I don't think so. I agree more with her phrase that it "raw and genuine".
How did you feel about the opening / ending sequences of the book? The book flows from beginning to end in the same sequence. Short chapters about the moves her family has made and the houses they have lived in. I don't think I can pick a favourite as I was able to connect with a lot of what she said. I was a military brat and we moved a lot which I did not appreciate when I was young.
Who was your favourite character and why? There wasn't a main 'character' as this is a non-fiction book. But if I had to pick someone I connected with, then it would be the author herself. The emotions she feels and expresses with every move speak volumes and her prose is almost poetic.
What were the main relationships explored in this book? Without a doubt, family and personal relationships as painful as they were.
Was this book worth reading? Definitely. It does have a PG rating and another book club member has given it a PG13 rating, I do think that this is an important book for teenagers and young adults on the brink of adulthood. It is bound to teach you appreciation.
