Are there any new authors that have sparked your interest and why? I really enjoy Zoe Saadia’s historical fiction novels in the series ‘At Road’s End’. They are very much historically accurate, however if you aren’t into history, they read like a dark fantasy series, too. I enjoy her writing style a whole lot. She’s very descriptive and smooth. And her characters are well defined. David Cassidy’s book ‘Velvet Rain’ is outstanding for those who like dark thrillers. I’ve been carrying thoughts of that one around in my head since reading it.
What are some of the best tools available today for writers, especially those just starting out? Keeping a close network of Indie Authors nearby is imperative. Check Facebook and Twitter for us. Otherwise, you could get feeling isolated pretty fast. Keep writing. Don’t listen to folks who don’t write and are not supportive, or encouraging you to give up. Listen to other authors. We know about the process. Don’t ever stop learning. No author does, not even the best. Not everyone is going to love everything you write. When you receive a bad review, if you can, then learn from it and don’t let it get you down.
What contributes to making a writer successful? I can only speak for myself, but to me it’s not rushing, and getting the best editor I can afford. To me that’s vital. The same goes for a cover artist. I write only when I can write with passion.
Do you have any advice for writers? If you keep writing, each book will get better. So keep writing.
Do you have any specific last thoughts that you want to say to your readers? We Indie Authors write because we love to create stories to share with all of you. Please leave reviews if you enjoy what we’ve written. Reviews mean more than you can ever know. Sometimes the only way we can gage that people enjoy our novels is by reading our reviews.
