imageAre there any new authors that have sparked your interest and why? S. M. Boyce is a remarkable talent in the Fantasy world.  Her fantasy series has reignited my desire to read fantasy again.  I love her characters, the world she created, and the story she is telling.  She really is the next big thing in Fantasy.

There are a lot of new authors emerging these days and I am pleased to see so much talent coming through.

What are some of the best tools available today for writers, especially those just starting out? The best tool a writer can use is a writers group.  It can be a local group, an online forum, or better yet both.  But to learn from fellow writers is the name of the game.  That will make a successful writer.

What contributes to making a writer successful? A successful writer needs the following: Desire to tell stories, willingness to learn, they must be an avid reader of both new and old fiction, and they must have their finger on the pulse of the writing world.

What do you do to unwind and relax? I relax with a book, with a movie, or a good TV show.  I also love video games such as Battlefield, SimCity, and I am completely obsessed with Tomb Raider.  I really enjoy watching San Jose Sharks hockey, though sometimes that just winds me up more.

Do you have any upcoming appearances that you would like to share with us? I do plan to attend WorldCon in San Antonio this August.  I don’t know what capacity I will be there in yet, it may just be as a visitor, but if fans see me they can feel free to say Hi.

When you wish to end your career, stop writing, and look back on your life, what thoughts would you like to have? I like to look back and see that a lot of people enjoyed the stories I had to tell.  That in the end my novels just changed a few lives and maybe even inspired a few more writers I can pass the torch to.
