If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would that be? “Have fun.”
I end every meeting with this simple phrase. It means more to me than just “have a good time.” It means have fun when you are getting a root canal, not just for you, but for the dentist who has to deal with complaining people day in and day out. Have fun when you’re getting audited, the auditor doesn’t want to be there any more than you, make a joke, give him a smile, and maybe his next meeting he will pass on your generosity. Have fun when you are being tortured by enemy soldiers if it comes to that, make them remember you, and that you did not break, did not become cold, that you laughed and went to your death with a smile.
Have fun means you have fun no matter what comes, you live life, and make the world a better place from you being in it.
So, Have Fun.
Are you reading any interesting books right now? I am currently rereading the Drizzt Do’urden series by R.A. Salvatore. It’s an old favorite from an amazing author.
Are there any new authors that have sparked your interest, and why? Jim Butcher, and his series, “The Dresden Files.” As far as why? His portrayal of his characters and the way magic works in his world is nothing less than hilarious and occasionally heart wrenching. He is an excellent author and I look forward to the release of any book he had a hand in.
Will you write others in this same genre? Most emphatically yes. I am currently working on book two, which will be titled “The Death of Magic.” My eventual goal for this series is to write three trilogies in this world, and then open it up to other writers who are interested in writing in an already established fantasy world; or possibly after I have finished the first of the three trilogies.
How much of the book is realistic? As much as I could make of it; fantasy is based on the unreal, but everything that did not have to change, I left the same.
