My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Did the book description relate to the story? Not really. This book is part of series and the description doesn't provide as much information as I would have liked.
How did you feel about the opening / ending sequences of the book? I liked the opening sequence. But overall both opening and sequences appeared cluttered. It's as if the author tried to do too much with too many characters all at the same time.
Who was your favourite character and why? Neiko, I guess. As much as I appreciated the insight into the first book in the series, I think Neiko's character development was a little too weak. It was expected that you know her. If you haven't read the first book, you don't know her and it's hard to connect with the main character in this book.
What were the main relationships explored in this book? I think it was Neiko relationships with the people around her. It must be noted, the writing style seems fresh and young but the topic and situation seems well beyond Neiko's years. It worked in some sections and it didn't in other bits.
Was this book worth reading? I think if the structure is polished a bit more, I would definitely recommend this book to my other book club members.
Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.
